It would be a haul for the OP, but the Lake Powell Challenge is probably the best scenery of any poker run out there. Small poker run, but growing a lot in the last few years.

Yeah at the Toys for Tots run in Palatka they said the water was brackish. I didn't believe that seeing as its 60-70 miles from the ocean...

Lanier and Desert Storm is on the wish list that I would like to experience. The 5 listed above are legendary and should be experienced at leased once.

FYI...
Registration is open for the Poker Run for a Cure (Susan G. Komen), in Norfolk, VA: https://www.mapacharity.org/registration/
It sells out every year.

Also...
Smith Mountain Lake Poker Run, (in Southwest, VA; not far from Roanoke/Virginia Tech) is also open for registration.
It's the weekend before Memorial Day, and is our 'unofficial season opener' in the region:
http://smlba.com/index.php/poker-run (You do need to pay $15 to join the SMLBA in order to register. It does net you a fuel discount and other perks).
Smith Mountain Lake is one of the most beautiful spots in Virginia. It's where What About Bob was filmed years ago. It's referred to as the 'Lake Tahoe of the East.'
