Re: 18' powerplay hull expectations..
diamondplate I used was 1/8" if my mind serves me right. 4' x 8' sheet for $70-$80. It was mirrored polished when I got it. very nice stuff. Cut it to the size peices i needed then bent the two floor pieces in a brake so they went down into the bilge a little bit to cover up the plywood floor edge. The floor ones are screwed on. The ones on the side are glued on with 3m 5200.. yup there never coming off :D I gutted the entire bilge, pumps, motor, carpet, wires, everything and painted it all white, came out nice can't remember what paint I used.
My motor right now puts out around 560-570 hp and 520-530 trq. its takes good parts to run small blocks like this. I probably had at least $7000 into this motor, but I spent that money so I could run it wide open all day long ;) It could go faster I am still 300 rpm under the rpm I should be at. I need to find a prop this spring to replace my labbed and CRACKED one  I think the ticket for these boats are short drives or surface drives. I am looking into having my X dimension moved up 2 1/2", I think it might be cheaper then finding a SS drive. First I am putting that gas tank in the floor instead of the bow. |
Re: 18' powerplay hull expectations..
Baker will do a small block for you, no sweat.

Re: 18' powerplay hull expectations..
foul you remember how much you paid to have you X dimension changed, all I need done is someone to fill the holes and reglass then recut the holes. Everything will be outta the boat, engine, drive assembly ect.

Re: 18' powerplay hull expectations..
Hell, that was like 7 years ago... I have it written down somewhere though.
We did it like this travis: Called Baja and they were kind enough to send me the cutout from a transom. We then glassed that piece back in place, gelled, and re-cut the holes. Worked well. You might see if anyone has the piece that gets cut out... |
Re: 18' powerplay hull expectations..
thanks bro, I am gonna call a few places around here when i get time, to see if they have the plugs and if they would do the job.
Strain your brain and try to remember where you had yours done ;) |
Re: 18' powerplay hull expectations..
Let me know what you find out Travis. I have been thinking about doing the same thing to raise my X. For what it cost for a shorty drive I think I can get the transom done..Dwight

Re: 18' powerplay hull expectations..
bear in mind that you have to raise the motor the same distance that you raise the drive. Make sure you watch the clearance for your air cleaners on top of the motor... and your exhaust elbows
