what do you think about using ATF (automatic transmission fluid) for Trim Tabs and Lower Unit Trim ?

I know someone that does, he said it makes them respond faster.

I have been using it for years in the rams for the outdrive. Dad had the same pump and cylinders for 18 years on his alpha that way. And nevery had to rebuild his rams.

Tried ATF and motor oil and didn't notice a difference.

I've had my share of trim pumps. Funny how some have oil and some have tranny fluid. I always just stayed with what was in it. If new I would go for oil because it don't stain as bad as tranny fluid and oil is also a little thicker and helps the seals seal. IMHO if it is oil or tranny fluid now stay with what you have because I would not want to mix the two and you will never get all of either out of the system even if you take it apart.

Only ATF here! Can get it at the local gas station if I spring a leak.
