Rod,
What kind of muffler bearings did you install?

Did you use detergent oil?

Would you agree 1.21 Jiggawatts is right for the Flux Capacitor

and most inportant: What is the differance between "Seasoned" and "Non-Seasoned" Ice?????

Hi Fred, yes its a 25' Talon and had the very first HP 500 ever built. It was a former Mercruiser blackhawk test boat. Last time it was in the water it ran 93 on gps with a very tired engine. I'm pretty sure Gary will sell it, but I don't know at what price. If you'd like I can ask him.

Mark, the 1050 purrs like a kitten. We did some emulsifier tube mods and that along with our CRANE custom grind smooth valve ramping and some very agressive initial timing its pretty docile at idle. We did do some pretty extensive carb work before we were happy. We didn't try a 950 because we believe our 509/ 600 HP low lift program seems to max it out. The heads are Merlins with what we call stage IV porting - in the 385 range at .600 lift and are done locally by Todd Goodwin of Goodwin Competition. Todd and I have been working together for 10 years and he does 100% of my headwork and valvetrain design. We think we could make better numbers with the old style Darts or Merlins with smaller runners. These are the new ones with 320 CC runners and 2.300 intakes.

Bart, an 850 would be no where near enough carb at the lowe rpm range we like to run stuff...ie 52-5400 max.

KAAMA 09-24-2002 10:42 PM

Bart/454hoho,

He might lose something like 15-20hp/torque or so going from a 1050 to a 950, but he will gain better idle quality, drivability and burn less fuel at the same rpm. When he dyno's the 2nd engine it would be interesting to see that comparison if he does it.

KAAMA 09-24-2002 10:52 PM

Rod,

What's your number please?

rpm 09-24-2002 10:58 PM

Matt, we used the same muffler bearings that NASA uses so that we can use water for lubrications instead of oil, you got me on the jig a watt thing, thats way beyond my ability to be confused and everyone here in the midwest knows that seasoned ice has been driven on and is full of $hit. FYI... I may be in Havasu for the Poker Run.

BUT I AGREE WITH KAMMA WITH THAT CAM ITS O .K.
AND I AGREE WITH COBRA AT 5250 ,,,,H.P. HAS TO = TQ. PERIOD :D SO THATS NOT BY DESIGN .
IT WILL BE GREAT FOR A RIDE AROUND BOAT AND YOUR RIGHT ABOUT THE HEAD SWAP (OLD MERLINS )WILL HELP ,
SORRY I DID NOT UNDERSTAND POST :) :)
