Default Clearing a 3L Sportmaster drive

I've used 2.5 Sportmaster drives in the past and had them clog with weeds at times. To clear them you remove the two side panels on the drive. But I just picked up a 3L Sportmaster equipped engine and it doesn't have those side plates. So how do you clear it if it gets jammed up?

a better question for the guys on scream and fly but I've never had a problem with it on mine. The only place I've had issues with blockage was at the point where it "pee's" out of the cowl. For that I just pulled the hose off the fitting let it flow then plugged it back into the factory fitting. I'd asked about opening the orifice but was told the PH needed the backpressure in the system to keep the right water pressure in it...
