Yarr, I feel your pain. I store on a lift in the summer too and I just resort to wet/dry shop vac, Simple Green, paper towels and a lot of wiping. Every spring I bring the boat home to my driveway which is inclined a bit and pull it straight up the drive so I can use the hose to properly wash everything from the anchor locker all the way back.

I likewise have our boat on a lift and the only time that the bilge pump goes on is when I clean it at the end of the season -- It is high and dry. In fact on the drain plug - I use a little Teflon tape so that nothing will leak in via the threads.
A clean bilge is a happy bilge!! 3pointstar |
Have used Dawn, tennis balls and a wet vac for years, the new lift I just ordered has a platform under the drives so I can pull bilge plug easy and change drive oil. Will even be able to use the oil drain tube on the engine through the bilge plug hole and really get all the old oil out. Just need to get the new lift (and well its going in) installed.
I also use a microfiber floor mop on a custom cut off handle to reach under the engines easily with the warm soapy water. |
This will sound nuts but I actually climb down the the swim platform/drives/tabs and sit on the tie bar between my drives and pull the plug so that no water gets in the bilge. I also do the shop vac trick.....

I got a little second dry bilge pump and ran the hose down to the drain plug and out the side. And I just hook it up to the battery any time I need it. Gets 99% of the water out. Got it at harbor Freight

Shop vac/simple green/ dawn and scrub brush I just cleaned up a oily mess from oil/filter change. I like a clean oil free dry bilge

Whats a clean bilge? mine is never clea, and I can rarely get all the water out, the way Cig built the boat the bilge pump plate stops all the water from going out and with the rocker hull some sits in midddle of the hull and don't even get to bilge I can only get it when I am parked on a HUGE hill to get it out... pain in the azz! I pretty much gave up keeping it clean...

I have a 3rd small bilge pump sitting close to the stern. Hardly any water stands in the bilge. When I want to clean it, I will use a small shop vac to get the last little bit out then I use simple green marine to clean any residue.

I hate the CIG bilge pump set up. I bet you'd have to have 40 gallons of water in the boat before the bilge would kick on. It drives me nuts....
