While it sucks, keep in mind they are building what is selling.......if nobody orders a sport boat for 2-3 years but you have sold dozens of CC's are you in the sport boat business anyway?

I can't think of to many new sport boats sold from any brand lately. PBC has sold a few new 38-42s and has a 50 in inventory.

Sad but true.

The Sunsation guys are in business to make great boats that sell and make a profit at the same time. Sounds as though demand and lack of demand has ramped up CC's and killed off sports boats. As long as they have the molds I guess there's still an option to build one but carrying stock boats for long periods of time is just not profitable.

I feel for the guys building great sports boats for a living.

I recently read a story in Trade Only (marine trade mag) that O/B sales continue to rise w/ Pontoon's being the largest market and inboard production down for the 10th year straight.

My buddy put 300 hours on a TS TG and sold it. Next boat was a new Jupiter center console. He complained it wasn't fast (twin 300's, ran low 60's) he ran that boat for a year, did one service on the motors and lost 15K owning it. He said he would never buy another go fast boat simply due to the math (costs to own/operate) and the shade of a cc. CC sold in a couple weeks, TG was probably 6 months.......both listed with the same broker.

Interesting Observations of the inverse relationship of Sport Boats (SB) compared to the production of Center Consoles ( CC)
I have been owned a dozen SB over the past decade, but have retained the same CC without any desire to upgrade or liquidate it.

It appears that with many Boat Builders transitioning there corporate strategy, (from SB to CC,) only a few high quality builders have the customers that invest in high quality PB.

OL told me they have a back log for PB, and only one CC in the production line. On the other hand MTI has similar customers demand for both CC and PB. The current Cig's for CC and PB are very nice rides.

Times are changing, boaters are looking for high performance, high quality, with much lower maintenance .....thus CC

You would have to say that you are "not your average boat owner".....:D

People want performance with reliability in cars/boats/airplanes whatever.

If Sunsation really wants to boost sales they best get working on their new WBX (Wake Board Xtreme) line! Our lake is littered with $100K + wake board boats. And interestingly enough, $100K + Cobalts.

I love the Cobalt line......they just need a better looking top for them. That aluminum fast top thing they had a few years ago looked like it was ordered from JC Whitney.

Yes. It would appear that for all intents and purposes, center consoles are the new sport boats. Does anyone build a significant number of performance Vs anymore besides cigarette and OL?

Arrived in Miami 10am yesterday.

Took the Statment with 6 people to
Gilberts for lunch
Islamorada Fish Co for beers
back to Miami for a sunset cruise
back on the lift and flush the motors in 4 minutes

Today
cruise to Miami River for lunch.
Around Star Island for some sight seeing.
Got on the outside to test the waters for tomorrow
Cruised through Stiltsville

Tomorrow
Bimini

Most versatile boat I've ever owned. I would sell everything else if I could only have one.......and for my money it would be a Statement!
