Default 180K to spend

My buddy is looking at cats. He has looked at 36 Nortechs, 36 skaters, 40 skaters, and now interested in a 39 MTI. He is looking to spend 160-180k. He will only look at #6 drive boats and prefers Merc power. He wants us to go look at this one next http://www.boattrader.com/listing/20...aran-102576198

How different are all these boats? What are the pros and cons of each brand? BTW his biggest issue on the nortech was the underwater exhaust. He hated the quiet.

I know of a well kept 36 nortech in that price range with fresh power and #6.

I like that boat, I have always liked that boat. I have no ownership experience with a catamaran, but that MTI looks good, hardware seems great, on the in person inspection, survey, and your sea trial. If you can get that boat for $180K or less, that is a great pickup.

There were quite a few people that converted to the underwater exhaust, I'm sure most kept the old parts. Might be worth asking around.

Your buddy wants a #6 and Merc power boat this is the best one out there right now. The boat is 9.5 or of a 10. Both motors were rebuilt like 7 or so hrs ago. Fresh #6, MYCO trailer, new GPS, boat is clean. Will be heading back to Long Island this weekend and if not sold, will be doing the Stamped Long island poker run in 2 weeks.

79formula - I sent you a PM yesterday. Fellow Buffalo guy here and I'm in the market for a similar boat as your friend. Shoot me a message back or a call/text. Who is looking? WNYOPA member I assume?

That 39' MTI in your link looks sweet. When it comes to resale value and all around performance of the boat....then either Skater or MTI is the way to go.
