Looks like big sets.......not sure on the top speeds! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56asSZmSphs |

This event seems to be an extreme hype about nothing and ends up with more questions than it started with. I'm not even sure what they set a record for, and weren't they supposed to do 3 records? Now the boat is sitting in Cuba rotting away? This whole thing doesn't make sense. Something went "very" wrong and it hasn't been made public. |

I don't believe they ever saw 8' to 10's, maybe 3' to 5's swells. And like JS said, they must have taken a 30 minute power nap. This industry seems to bring out the best in a person's ability to stretch the truth.

The paint started fading on this boat in less than a year, so I would get my money back on that "special" orange paint. But the bottom line is, NOBODY leaves a beautiful million dollar boat sitting and rotting anywhere.
Did Cuba confiscated it? Or....? |
Well Castro is out. So maybe the boat can come home?

Did Raul change his last name?

German newspapers have reported on Kluh, his relationship with Cuba and why the boat is there. It's only a mystery to Americans because U.S. news organizations could care less about a rich German and his Apache. Seems like the fate of the boat and the details of whether it actually broke a record is something that would be worth looking into by some reporter who reports on high performance boating news. Doesn't one frequent the site?

Watching the spot gps data live on the day and listening to their statements after the run. I have to conclude that the boat was so fast, that it outran the gps tracker and weather reports for that day, which in turn, spoiled what should have been a picture perfect record run! :drink:
