What makes an Active Thunder such a great boat?

What makes an Active Thunder such a great boat? Does this apply to the 34' too and that's the scoop on a 450 engine?

32fever 06-20-2016 11:48 AM

They're a great boat because they compensate for their owners. All the Active Thunder owners I know drink too much, play music too loud, and are easily distracted by members of the opposite sex when wearing limited clothing. Despite all of those distractions, they run very well :)

Based on that description, I think I need to buy an AT.

Ya, that joke only works for 38 Fountains.

32

scottgjerdingen 06-20-2016 01:36 PM

FYI - here is the boat . It is a bit more than I need, but can't say that about the want :-)

Knot 4 Me 06-20-2016 02:48 PM

The Kool-Aid and the fact that they all run 112 MPH.

I fit into this category on all accounts. It must just be an Active Thunder thing...

I'm going to screw up the humorous direction of this thread with a serious answer....

Patented hull design, layup methods/schedules, rigging, attention to detail, and customer support. Pat has a CULT following for many reasons.

You mean mine DID NOT run 112? Damnit!

Maybe my 700s are only 699s.

Nate5.0 06-20-2016 05:49 PM

When you get a AT you add 4" and it is not just beak space

PARASAIL941 06-20-2016 06:08 PM

So your saying it doubles in size...

32's are not the fastest hulls out there. However, they ride well and they seem to handle the choppy/sloppy water very well. Very solid. Griff can probably answer specifics as he has one that used to be a Lake MI boat. I ran with that boat and one other 32 with my 32 Fountain for years. If it was calm, the Fountain was 4-5 mph faster with same power. However, the rougher it got, the harder it was to keep up with the AT's. The Fountain had to run on top in the rough, but those AT's ran well wherever you put them. I'd get beat up in 3'ers under 50 mph and the AT's sliced through it, and then stuck better when it got rougher. The Fountains are hard to keep in the water to keep up. Not that you wanted a beak/AT comparo, but I can speak to that at least :) Since I derailed the seriousness.....

Most Active Thunder ho's can be brought home to meet the family, not so much with the Fountain Skanks.

I am waiting for the 29 CC

A buddy of mine is possibly interested in the 32 AT, based on what is in the link above, does this look to be a good deal? He wants to go see the boat, anything in particular that should be examined or that he should be aware ot about this boat?

thisistank 06-21-2016 01:34 PM

They run really well
They're built really well
The people at the company (that I've met) are absolutely awesome people that you could sit down and have a beer with...oh wait, that's what we actually did. :)

I'd love to own an AT. Great boats.

So, Active Thunder owners strive for commitment? Are you going to build one with a white picket fence custom paint job? Do AT owners put the stick figures on the transom like a Dodge Caravan? LOL!

Can you tell from this small picture what the power package is? are those 500's? What is the maintenance schedule for these, are they relatively expensive to maintain & @ WOT how much gas do these burn? 15-20+ gallons of gas an hour?

snapmorgan 06-21-2016 05:07 PM

15-20GPH, That is funny right there, I don't care who you are.

snapmorgan 06-21-2016 05:08 PM

Put a 1 in front of it

scottgjerdingen 06-21-2016 05:20 PM

Boy, I was way off, must have some big old tanks.

Not going to happen. But we are working on designs with all 3 models that we feel is better and true "offshore only".

Looks like the old "Face Off" boat. Person that owned it 2-3 years ago knew NOTHING about it. By the ad it may be the same person.

Jupiter Sunsation 06-23-2016 06:13 AM

Active Thunder: For those that want a performance boat with an enclosed head and less than 137 logos! :D

or they just want to be like Cash Bar!

Wide open...plenty of room for bales of coke and barrels of fuel...going back to the offshore roots I see. :party-smiley-004:

Padraig 06-23-2016 11:57 AM

With Velocity out of business, if I was shopping for a new boat it would be an Active Thunder. Good boats and from what I have heard, great customer service. Oh, I almost forgot.... No fecking fish boats.

Careful, there was a lot of 'repeating' here:

http://www.toppsclearlake.com/resour...;N%20DIRTY.jpg

I was in the shop the week that Pat was applying all of these stencils (himself). You could hear the change in his voice over the two days, each time he measured and placed another one; as he yelled out "THIIRRRTTYYYY-SEEEEVEEEEEENNNNN! I'll never forget that.

TBAG 06-23-2016 12:38 PM

Speaking of AT's, just spotted this on the side of the road here in Lexington, Thunder Storm, either TX or TN reg numbers, hard to tell from the my point of view. I asssume he's headed home from Thunder Run? A little ways off I-75 though.........

Wasn't this the one with big power from the factory? It looks like it had big blower hatches under that snap on cover.

Yep, that was originally "ThunderDan" 's boat back in the day, sister ship to RadioActive with KE675 power. Last known in Texas, it had a pair of stripper poles and a huge stereo. Dan is a happily married man, so the poles were not OEM; added by a gigolo at a later date. :D

Sick Stinger 06-23-2016 01:03 PM

TBag has a couple of 700s. Talked to the owner about it as he has been looking to sell for a while. Started at 100. Came down to 75k last CL listing. Needs lots of of TLC in regards to drive oil leaks, hull scars ect. Has great hardware but love was never involved.
