No need to choose a stepped hull to be fast ?
As crazy as it sounds sometimes a longer hull is faster in smooth water !!! Extra length with steps can be more efficient with the same power. Longer is always better in big water !!!! I swear its the guy's in the boat that make the biggest difference. Many a good hull has been passed over because team that raced it were not up to the challenge. A great team can make a average hull shine IMO.
