I always use the mcguard locks by themselves no locktite or anything. Only thing I have done is if I'm testing props and taking them on and off a bunch of times in a day I'll use the regular nuts and not the locks cause they have the nylon thread lock in the locks that you can wear out by taking them on and off to many times. I only need my locks for when my boat is left on the lift for weeks at a time but I do agree with Indy in the fact it's always better to take the props off if your on the trailer.

I have been using the Mcguard locks on twin engine boats pretty much since they were introduced, haven lost any props underway yet ( have lost the lock keys tho ). I grease my prop shafts , including the threads, every season when installing the props . It was pretty easy to get new keys from them when I lost those . As stated above , locks keep honest people honest .
