A boater flushed away $170,000 — along with offensive odors — when his vessel went down in flames sparked by a bathroom candle.
The fire broke out shortly before 1 a.m. Friday at the Loggerhead Marina, 1400 Marina Drive in Hollywood.
The boat owner told inspectors he lit a candle after "using the bathroom, and didn't want it to smell bad" and the candle tipped over, according to Hollywood Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Chris Del Campo.
The 38-foot, 2004 Meridian yacht was bought that same year for $170,000, the owner told inspectors. The man was not injured.
