I went to check out the Active Thunder website because so many people were raving about them. Looks like a cool boat, but their claims are a bit too much. Does everybody claim to be able to prove they can beat ANY OTHER OFFSHORE BOAT? I don't remember seeing AT listed as most winning in APBA or SBI, I think that honor goes to Skater.

Basically, the Active Thunder Boat runs like a RAPED APE - fast, level and smooth in the rough and smoking fast in the smooth!
It's 12% faster than a conventional vee and equal power to size, it'll kick ass on any other offshore boat, stepped or pad bottom,
built today...and we can prove it!

Choice is clear, Nordic the 25' Rage is the best overall value. Good looks, speed, resale value, it all adds up.

Tom RE: AT as I understand the story Pat pay’s Harry Schoell royalties on every AVH Active Thunder now qualifying that statement.

There are a lot of respected people who consider Harry one of the best Vee Bottom designers in the World period and the bottom design work was PAID for and Professional not guessed at .( Not Popped I hate Poppers BTW and we know who they are)

Active Thunder does not race or support a race team hence no real factory race record.

The customers are fiercely loyal and that’s a hell of a lot said here BTW like the Apache people.

Just ask anyone of them about the AVH performance and ride H2o would be a good source.

Down here the boat industry is a small small World we know about everyone! AT is well liked by the Suppliers Why?? Because they pay their bills also the Employees are paid Friday every week and the factory is busy.

The neat thing about Checkmate and their 40 years in the biz is they never sold out, never got into the mass production, look what AMF/Brunswick did to Harley Davidson and Chris Craft!

Steve1-
Very well said and factual about AT- Harry's influence and professional design does set them apart- his new 28 AVH will be a very interesting boat to say the least. He seems to be able to avoid the bulk of the handling issues associated with a lot of the other step bottom boats as well.

It's natural for the Baja and Checkmate owners, or any other boat owner to aggressively defend the boat they purchased, especially when comparing it to another boat on an internet forum.
There is no way to compare these production manufactured boats to the custom manufactured AT's or Panteras; it's apples to oranges.

Fever Mike,

:D :D :D

That was good. Fountains are a great boat as well. Oh oh I am sure someone is going to say I ripped on Fountains now too. But I'm sure I can live it.:) Have a good Holiday.

Evil.....i'm sorry if i ruffled your feathers....i never said one bad about any of the other boats either.....just said that i thought the 25 Checkmate is a better boat than the 25 Baja and that i thought the quality of of a Checkmate is on par or better than all on the list ..that's it! All i meant by the sceer numbers coment was that Baja build's 10 x as many boats a year compared to what Checkmate builds. Don't tell everyone about my janitor postion at Checkmate.......everyone will want to work here .......30' twin on a janitors wages......NUFF SAID
