25 Baja Outlaw
I was very close to buying a 25 Outlaw. But the Checkmate 240ZT has way more room in the cockpit than the Outlaw. The cabin on the Outlaw is a little bigger. One on my good friends has a 25 Outlaw and I like it but the fit and finish is not as good as the Checkmate. I will say that I do not like the graphics that Checkmate still uses they need to be updated and get a little wild like Baja. I bought my Checkmate that was custom painted by Mitcher T. Just my 02.

I think Pantera is the better rough water boat, on the list, for the money.

The real deal

The best, custom made, family supported & built 24' boat for the money is Pantera. The Nunez family hand builds every boat with exceptional detail, every boat is built to the same standards and specifications as any offshore race boat. Panteras handle rough water better than most 30+ foot boats.
I have raced a 34' Phantom w/twin 500 (F-2 APBA) and my 24' Pantera Sport feels and flys better than the Phantom. As you can see from the voting...Pantera is actually #1. They are not a mass produced boat or a corporate subsidiary, just a well constructed, hand laid hull boat. The ratio of Checkmate and Bajas sold annually VS Panteras sold annually indicates that they are truly the top 24'/25' desired!! PS - Though it may not be apparent, I'm a little biased. Pantera24 650,
Sweet boat .Pantera does build an awsome boat.I love the 28 .I would not consider a Checkmate a mass produced boat compared to a baja .It is still hand layed balsacore construction (As far as I know)Not that chopped stuff. We have a 98 25 checkmate (251) and are very impressed with the boat.Solid rattle free ride. I would go with either a 25 AT or a 26 Sonic!
