Here is the link for today's runs. Flight Club ran 184.
Boat looked like it had more but water was too calm.

Damn! Garth and Jim ran 192 in that 36 classic? So much for the cut-down widened cats being faster........

nocoolname37 08-27-2016 10:09 PM

there's also that rumor of 2200 hp per side, doesn't hurt

You think the 368 that JT was throttling didn't have big power? Just sayin'......... And I love the late model Skaters - my 30 is a flat-deck - just cool to see those guys bringin' it old school!

No doubt Sam, the combination of Garth and Jim is badass.........just like when Chip and Joe won the event a few years back. Most people have no clue what it takes to run those #s in those boats. That 200 mark is hallowed ground on water........

gmgearhead454 08-28-2016 12:08 AM

Seeing that all white old school skater run 192 was the highlight of the day! That was a bad ass no bull**** balls to the wall run! Too bad A.E. was dq'd, I'm really curious what it could do if it had unlimited room to run...? Btw, i never saw Tyler Crocket run, did he make a pass? And what did Parvey lay down in the Black Thunder? Couldnt hear it the the radio.

Dale what 368 you talking about that JT throttled? The Bacardi boat is a stock 36, just a flat deck

Crockett ran 114, AEG as I am sure you saw ran a DQ'ED 217, and yes...that white skater us a BEAST!!

Double Rigged 08-28-2016 06:33 AM

To clarify, JT was not at the shootout. They run for AE stands as of this morning and I agree with Dale. To make a run like they did in a 36 Classic Deck is awesome. Sure it takes HP but there are other boats out there with big HP not getting close to those speeds. In speaking with Jim they have spent countless hours setting up the boat to run those speeds.
You cannot accomplish that without a lot of knowledge, patience and $$$. Congratulations to them for representing Skater Nation!!!!!
:Score-101010::boat:
Also let's not forget Skater brother Tom Kennedy at 120mph intitial run in his new 28 at 120mph either!

350scarab 08-28-2016 07:11 AM

Impressive speeds by all those involved. Has anyone ever beat the 224 MPH run that MY WAY run a few years ago ?
Is that speed still a record ?

Awesome video. Thanks for the info .

I think the Black Thunder went 151 and looked good running

Flight club definitely has some power under the hatch , man it sounded serious

Hoping for another day of speed

I thought Ron's full canopy Skater with Arnesons is a 368 - originally built for Dereberry. I know JT was helping set the boat up, so I figured he would be there running the boat. Anyway, my point about that post is that I've seen pictures of the motors in that rig - big PSIs w/ injector hats on them. I know those motors have to be making north of 2,000hp (hell, my little 468 w/ 12-71 blower in my hydro is making around 1,500hp), they've got a full canopy boat with a bustle/rudder/ASDs (all aerodynamically and hydrodynamically superior to a standard quarter-canopied open-cockpit boat) and they still didn't go as fast as Garth and Jim yesterday. What Garth and Jim did yesterday is really awesome!

Agreed Ron..........awesome job by both teams! They've represented Skater well - both with boats designed by Pete way back in the '90s...........

TxHawk 08-28-2016 08:54 AM

The 36 classic's are no Joke. Give the Flight Club boat the same amount of time to dial in as Garth has had and it will be a rocket.

Look at Nor'easter. Not a shootout boat and ran 177 a few years ago with 1500-1600Hp.

Parveys went 145 mph last year. They just laid down a 159 mph. NOT a typo...... 159 MPH. That is 6 mph faster than their closest competitor. A beautiful Outerlimits I think?

They definitely got that boat dialed in.

edelectra 08-28-2016 05:22 PM

Parvey is the most impressive at the shoot out. GREAT job.

stimleck 08-28-2016 07:31 PM

can these boats run faster with more room ?

I would assume.

gmgearhead454 08-28-2016 08:30 PM

I may be thinking too far ahead here, but at this rate, he could be knocking on the door for fastest v bottom world record one day... Could you imagine a Black Thunder holding that record!?!?

Interesting question.
Generally, how long a run would a boat need to top out ?
Would a mile be enough, or would they need a couple of miles ?

hogie roll 08-29-2016 11:24 AM

I'm under the impression that the fountain kilo boat had big props that took a while to plane off.

Absolutely...I love seeing the "little guys" in the BT (bigass tank) kicking ass.

miller001 08-30-2016 11:40 AM

165mph in a Black Thunder is incredible! Awesome job Dennis n Jason!!

miller001 08-30-2016 11:44 AM

First off this was the first time Ron's new 368 had seen flat water the little bit of test time we had was on Lake St Clair with winds blowing 15+ mph and a 1-3 chop so we run this year as for test purpose and to have some fun

The motors aren't new they make around 1600+ HP The boat is also very unique as it is the only carbon fiber 368 ever built combine that with the only 368 with this drive/rudder combo she'll need some more dialing in

To push the boat to the 200 mark is scary in an untested boat if it doesn't work out you can lose your life just to prove yourself to people makes no sense

And of corse our good friends Garth and Jim deserve a **** ton of credit they totally know what they're doing in that 36

Awesome to see you guys run Chip and most important is the safety aspect. I look forward to seeing more from you two in the future.

[QUOTE=miller001;4476644]First off this was the first time Ron's new 368 had seen flat water the little bit of test time we had was on Lake St Clair with winds blowing 15+ mph and a 1
Given the limited time Ron and Chip had to test and run this boat, I was impressed with their speed. Add to that the fact that the entire set up is unique, that there is no "baseline" information to start with or compare to, and their test track was nasty for the days leading up to the Shootout really limiting their ability to "get it on", I'd give them a solid "A" on their performance. The boat has all the makings of a Shootout monster. Their 184 was the 3rd fastest time of the event!!! I'm sure they will put on one hell of a show next year.

As far as our performance, thanks for your kind words Dale and Chip. I think both teams had a great Shootout this year.
