I think the water temp this time of the year if you are talking lake MI maybe be a issue.

The question is did it hit the drive when it broke loose? any damage on the drive?

Throw a couple hundred to a dive school if they find it ?

How cold is the water there now ? Very cold here.

How fast was it spinning when it came off? If it snapped off at high RPM, who knows how far it would have traveled before it hit the bottom... Good luck!

They stop spinning almost instantly, probably only made one or two revolution and probably a flip. Not much mass for the resistance of the water.

That BLOWS!! ugh... I also agree I bet a good diver can get it.... especially if you marked where it happened on GPS.

Something must have come loose in the nose cone and the whole shaft walked out when I put it in reverse. We were just floating maybe 20 yards from shore, I reverse then forward all of a sudden one engine no thrust.

Water is still kinda warm, it`s the north winds and waves that are going to be an issue this time of year.

I`m trying to find a diver.

just remember Mr. Newton's laws - for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction-- you can clean the bottom of the boat as long as your are anchored to something - but the moment you try to scrub in a relative weightless environment you will just go off in the opposite direction.

A definitive search pattern, and location, you will find it. I'm a search and rescue diver. When we train we find golf balls that were tossed out of a row boat.
