SOR 32R Sets New Speed Record
SubscribeLast week our 32ft offshore race boat, based upon the British, Steve Baker Phantom design set a new speed record.
We run in the UIM Marathon Offshore class. Thus we are required to carry offshore equipment such as a liferaft, EPIRB along with other safety equipment. The boat has to meet a certain weight requirement also thus the boat stands at just over 3050kg.
With various runs through the week our top speed was 96mph, with an average speed of 93.10 - However with minor modifications we are confident we will see 100-105mph this winter. The boat is powered by twin Verado 400R's and is based upon our production leisure boats. Thus it ran these speeds with a double bed and two sofas in the front!
We broke two records in two different classes and were awarded the Donald Campbell K7 Silver Star, as the record attempt was part of a larger event based on Consiton Water, where Donald Campbell lost his life in his K7 Bluebird.
Thought I would post here as would make slightly different content. Our team website is www.sunusracing.com
