Have you ever done the math on what it cost per boat ride? Take the cost of gas, annual maint, slip fees, insurance, depreciation ( the big one), registration, fines LOL, drinks and food, damage, any other things we will call misalliance. Us poor people up north only have maybe 12-16 weekends. Take out weddings ,work, parties, and weather cut that number in half. What's your best guess?
p.s. remember, cost of drinks & food could go up under these conditions. ;-)

I assume that my yearly boating will cost me $20K. That doesn't account for breakage or thrown prop blades. Totally worth it.

Yeah I figured it out, add truck and boat spending over last 4 years $180, 0000 divide by years, divide by 16 weeks of use (if I use every single weekend during our 4 month season (if lucky) divide that by an hour per day, still on the high side and it`s $1000/hour.
That does not include gas, slip, looking for prop, hours spent in bilge.
So every minute while underway just throw out a $20 bill and now you`re an average budget boater with an 80`s boat.

These replies have me cracking up.
I used to keep track of receipts total during my project, then I just started throwing them in the folder after I wrote the check.
Some things are best left alone.

The Dinner bill for four was $680.00... The Ball game for four was $500.00
Entertainment has no price comparison.. No guideline...No Cost effective measure.
I expect to spend and lose money on entertainment .. Boating is my favorite form

One thing I do know is though boating might not be the most practical hobby the second you push the sticks forward its all worth it and it doesn't matter what it costs.
