In my experience, a short burst in 1-2' water @ 85-90+ MPH in a 28-32' vee is reasonable with a rookie boater if they get a choice. It helps if you ask them after running for a while at 55-70 MPH in easy water if they are ready for more. As the speed increases and if they change their mind, just raise their hand. It does take a while for the causal/rookie boater to understand speed. Face it, if you are ejected at 70+ MPH you are likely going to get hurt.

I learnt when I was about twenty years old, the two ways to drive a boat. How to drive with others on board and how to drive on your own. The former is the only one that matters.
I had a 17' ski race boat with a 2.4 Bridgeport on back. Best speed on radar was 96mph. (previous owner) More than a couple of times, I tried to prove it with someone else on board and the boat quickly earned the nick-name "The Death Boat". My brothers refused to go in the boat if I exceeded about 60mph and soon friends were avoiding me in favour of other slower boats. Pretty lonely having the fastest boat on the lake if nobody will ride with you. I didn't want to own a boat I couldn't run flat out so I sold it and bought something a little slower and won back a few friends in the process. :) RR |
Only way I do it is in a registered race boat with a throttleman I know to be worthy ,and I still have the wheel.
quite a few high perf- boaters aren't well seasoned.I love it when I hear " that boat drives itelf " |
I love the guys that want to try and fly off the cruiser wakes LOL. There drive is still trimmed up and off to the sky they go. IMO going off a cruiser wake is the worst way you should try and get some air. Its the most awkward water that can get you in trouble. Its not a wave, its not a roller, Its not even with the boat when you go off it and 3-4 completely different size tops. What do you think will happen LOL. On the other hand there is a reason I know all this LOL

Better yet you let ******* buddy behind the wheel and will not let next person to experience the thrill. Reason he stated : I haven't got my money's worth yet. Beatings followed shortly. Ejected out of boat next dockage. A hole!!!!!!!
P.s. I never charge for rides, hence the beatings. Lol |
