Received 2 sheets of stainless from Discount Steel yesterday. They were wrapped and sandwiched with particle board and then wrapped in cardboard. Shipped thru Fed ex ground no damage. This picture is the back of the stainless so ignore the light scratches, the front is covered with a mask to protect it. I also ordered a 100' roll of 1" Ultra High Bond 3M double sided tape, you have seen it as emblem adhesive in the auto parts stores. Will update once everything is received.
Looks good. Did you have them notch a hole for the ram mount or are you going to make that cut? |

Using 3M VHB double sided 1" wide tape, 100' roll so i'll have some left over. Also ordered adhesive promoter pads from 3M, they smell like rubbing alcohol but leave a slightly tacky surface. I feel it is very important to get as much of the oils/debris as possible off the backing of the stainless panels. Clean surface = stainless that sticks and stays put. Set the tape aprox 6" apart, thanks to Neil "HyFive578" for the tip. I installed port side, starboard side I had to template for the fender holder. There is no fun house, wavy look and that is a relief. The 18 gauge stainless is about as thin as I would go to avoid the issue. Will post final photos and total cost for the project once vinyl decals arrive this week.

Looks great Rob. That's exactly how I applied the VHB tape. That is NEVER coming off...

Once the tape made contact with the 3M promoter there was no coming back and re-aligning. I agree with you, at first I was 50/50 about adding some set screws and washers for "just in case", definitely no need after feeling the bond.

Not necessary on my boat, rams mounts are not close in the area, makes this very easy to do. Only thing I have to template is the fender mount on the starboard hatch. And yes I am fixing the rubber gasket that is coming off the hatch too!

Total cost for project: 2 Custom cut stainless sheets, 100' 3M VHB Tape, 2 Custom logos $380 all in. Starboard graphic is smaller to allow for fender holders.
