I agree. The defacto answer for a problem with a modern motor is "Did you scan it?" I've been using Diacom Marine SW for years for a 496HO, then a 525efi. I just upgraded it to include support for Verados a few months ago. I might be in for one of these too depending on price. It seems easier than dragging my laptop outside when I want to run a scan. What kind of discount are you expecting?

discount can not be answered just yet because if everyone wants that basic kit for $499 then its a smaller discount, If everyone wants the delux kit of course bigger discount. If it is mix then an average discount will be applied. Prob expect a 5 % to 10 % discount because I have feeling most will want the basic kit. That's the best answer I can give out until we get 10 and which kits are needed. Hope that makes sense.

I will put it this way if you were to call Diacom the prices that are listed in the link is what you are going to pay regardless. Going the 10 route in which I am trying to do and pass on a discount for sure to all buyers of the hand held Techmate pro will be less than the pricing shown from the link. So with that said WHY PAY MORE when we have a discount of some sort if we can buy 10 ? Everyone agree with that ?

Their website says that the basic kit comes with adapter #94005, you need #94006 for those motors. Last time I called Diacom, they were pretty friendly and would probably make that change for you.

For the verado he will need the CAN adaptor for $249. Anyone would be better off buying the outboard kit shown in the link for the $799 or the delux kit as that comes with the adaptor to scan ECM 555 / PCM 555 as well. That will scan 496's Mercruisers. What you can do is sell the other outboard connectors / plug harnesses as the price range for them are 39 to 69 dollars.

Special note - I actually have never worked on a Verado nor ever scanned a Verado - Last before the most current diacom update version that was only good up to 2012 Verado 's. With that said I am not sure how current of a Verado can be scanned. Again really have no reason to follow Verado's cause it is not something I will ever see hence why I am in the unknown about what aftermarket scan tool will fully scan them. It might be different now since diacom did have a software update. Wanted to pass that on.

IMO you are better to spend a bit more to get the MEFI adaptor / harness and the ECM 555 / PCM 555 which that kit is $ 599 its only 100 bucks more . You then have a very wide range to scan Mercruiser engines

Mike IMO this applies to you 4 sure since you work on boats. Do not forget you can charge someone to scan their engine(s) The scan tool will pay for itself

Ah.....Count me out then. The Diacom software will scan just about any Merc I/O or OB as long as you have the right adapter. I use the same cable and adapter for my Verado that I used for my 496 and 525. No additional adapter needed. I scanned an Optimax too, just need a different adapter.

With the software, I think part of the magic is in the cable. When I upgraded my software, I had to upgrade my cable. That's really what I was paying for.
