Hey Cap did you make it out Sunday?
I got out around 12:30 and made a short run south to the navy yard than north to Trenton. A little cold! Boat back in driveway in time for Eagles game. Got to try a 23 pitch mirage plus / blueprinted prop . I still have to many rpm, 4900rpm at WOT. Motor rated for 4400-4800. Speed 68-70 (no gps). or 55mph @ 4000rpm. I'm going to call Darin @ Houston Propeller I thing I need to move up to a bigger prop, say 25, or maybe I bigger boat. |

Was out Sunday 12 noon till about 6 Pm Ran up to Trenton and headed back south, But the 2 women started to say they were way too cold. So we headed back up to Three season about half-time watched the eagles game and headed home. weather wasn't that cold for me( my old mailman blood started to flow). Just kept thinking this sucks on the way back. A long winter ahead.
4 adults 1/2 tank gas was spinning aprox. 5,000 rpm non gps 66-67 mph stock 4-blade bravo 1 24-P Hey quick question? I was told I should pull my drive off for winter. Has anyone ever pulled the drive off? how hard is this? I seen the 6 bolts. Is that it just, 6 bolts? NO HIDDEN TRICKS? PS I still have my Daisy Duke poster hanging right next to Heather thomas( from the fallguy!):D |
You don't 'have' to pull the drive if you don't want to. People ususally do it for maintence..(to inspect bellows in the housing, grease drive u-joints, change oil etc.). They also take it off because they get stolen alot.
If you leave it on the boat....you should put a lock on it, and also leave it in the trimmed down postion. If it is trimmed up, the bellows are exposed, and prone to dry rot more than if it's tilted down. If you want to take it off, there are the 6 bolts of the housing, and the 1 bolt that goes through the back where the hydraulic trim arms hook up. when you pull it, you need to make sure the cable comes unhooked on the way off. The cable is on the right side between the first and the second bolts. There is also the drive resivior valve in that area....it's about an inch long....so when pulling the drive back far enough to unhook the cable....make sure you pull it further than the 1" so the check valve doesn't stay open....makes a mess!! OR...i can give you a hand if you supply alcohol. :p I also have the winterizing kit for the motor if you need it. |
