Best part of Atlantis is the waterpark for the kids. As a guest it is free, as a non-guest they charge like $100 per person to roam the grounds/use the facitlities.

Agreed water park is something to do thats differenct. the beaches i went to in nassau were so so. the beaches on paradise island (where the resorts are) are what you see in the commercials. might catch a few tits on paradise island too, those europeans are so free :D shops in nassau are fun for a bit, but after awhile it all runs together. a lot of the same stuff.

Whats that place run a night? That's a cool spot! Reminds me a bit of Saba Rock (another place run by an OSO member down island a bit further).

Who runs Saba Rock?

Lubbers landing would not be easy to get to from Nassau... Probably have to fly to Marsh then find a ride..

I stayed at Atlantis . In fact I was stuck in Bahamas during 9-11 attacks. I was at the straw hut markets getting my wife a steel drum when I heard it on the radio...but point is the straw markets are cool to buy things. Unless you got really deep pockets go to the port where cruise ships come in. Lots of good shopping

The previous owners no longer own this place (at least that is my understanding). It seems to be geared more towards the angler now but continues with the great restaurant and bar! It looks like $200/night or you can rent the whole compound. Lubbers is accessible by boat from Marsh Harbour. It is not an "all inclusive" type of place, but that is what I loved about it. Just hanging out and day trips in the boat.

we spent a week on Lubbers Quarter Cay last August (rented a house) and besides Lubbers Landing & Cracker P's there isn't much to do on the island. Granted both bars are great but they are only bars / restaurants and they keep very strange hours... However you are right in the heart of the Abaco's and it's great jump off to any of the other islands. It was a great trip, between crossing over and cruising around we put over 650 mile on the boat... Everybody had a blast and I highly recommend the Abaco's to anybody. Way better than Freeport.
I have only been to Nassau in a cruise ship so I don't know what to do if you have a boat over there. I know the Berry's and the north end of the Exuma's isn't too far away. I wasn't that impressed with Nassau but we only had 6-7 hours to explore and we probably did it wrong.

We have spent a week in Cable Beach three different times, nice area that's far enough away from downtown. Too bad the Baha Mar is still not open - it is a short walk from Sandals. Do check out the Daiquiri Shack in the straw market across from the Hyatt (?). Good drinks and the owner is fun. There's a Starbucks close to Sandals too, if that's important. Downtown has shopping and restaurants - we would run down there and watch the crazy cruisers at Senor Frogs. Wish I could recommend a good place to eat, but never had a good meal twice at any restaurant. We have gone to Atlantis at night, the return cab ride is always a highlight.

We have done a couple of island tours. One was a "powerboat" tour which is fun but the snorkeling wasn't the greatest. The other one we did was at Sandy Toes (http://www.sandytoesbahamas.com/). This wasn't far from the harbor but was relaxing and good food.

Wife and I stayed there a couple years ago. Nice place, like the no cash rule, no tipping etc. Check out Atlantis aquarium, it's pretty cool and worth the cab ride.

Caution on Baha Mar- it was owned/built by the Chinese and they are feuding with the Bahamian Govt and the banks that financed the project. My neighbor lives in Nassau and said that Baha Mar is running a phone scam where they will book your room, charge your credit card despite "NOT BEING OPEN!" When you arrive they tell you that unfortunately the hotel isn't ready so they booked you at a neighboring hotel (cheaper) and keep the extra money......
