We enjoyed walking down town near the water front. It's kinda like rodeo drive in Beverley hills. All Rolex, Patek, breitling and jewelry and high end clothing shops across from local farmers markets. Kinda surreal. I guess they do well with the high end sales due to all those exiting the cruise ships that won big at gambling. I don't know if it's still there but there was this place called Pirates of Nassau that gave a little museum tour and history lesson on the islands pirate ties. And the bar and restaurant were really good. Theres local buses that pick you up in front of the hotel like every 15 minutes. It was a buck to ride them about 10 years ago. locals were all really cool back then, don't know about now. we took a boat over to atlantis to visit a friend that was staying there. Cool scenery around the island with huge houses and what not, and the water planes land down the channel that separates Atlantis from the main island and watching them land is pretty cool. I wouldn't recommend visiting Atlantis though. If you've ever been to vegas, it's just like every hotel in Vegas, gambling, buffets, over the top tourist trap. go to vegas instead and get the real experience! Over all, we really liked our stay there. Nice place, nice town. I guess it's like every beach town in the US too, don't venture more than a few blocks in off the beach or you'll hit trouble ;) Have a good trip! |

Nassau does have a fancy shopping district but I didn't think there were any huge discounts on stuff plus the locals would cut your arm off to steal your new Rolex! Best part of Atlantis is the waterpark for the kids. As a guest it is free, as a non-guest they charge like $100 per person to roam the grounds/use the facitlities. |
