Stressed Engine Block???
 

I'm about to pull the trigger on a 1989 Pachanga but have a serious concern with one of the blocks. The owner is an engine builder and has assured me the pic is the issue and the block is just fine. His work appears meticulous but I think he missed this. I have altered the contrast to help illustrate the area of concern. Should I be concerned this motor is under too much stress or going to easily fail? http://www.uppersetting.com/personal/stress.png

He couldn't b meticulous if he missed that amount of cracks. I wouldn't waste my time with it

He said it's oil from when the motor was upside down which I do clearly see in another pic. Do you think it could be a thin trail of oil? It is dark and looks wet. He ran the motor for 100 hours since the pic was taken.

Have him wipe it down and send new dated pics..........

Doesn't look typical for stress cracks though a few could be

It looks like the assembly lube I use it is so stringy it will leave marks like that every where.

Just looked at it blown up they are not cracks.

Yes I would say assy lube also .......those do not look like cracks in cast iron

Its too shiny to be stress cracks, it looks like it is on the outer cylinder too. And unless the engine is making 1500 hp its not under too much stress. Ive seen stock block BBC making that much on spray .
