Question: Prestone/AC Delco 50/50 Dex-Cool pre mixed, no water to add right ?

If you use the pre mixed stuff just dump it in and you dont have to mix with water. But its about double the cost than just buying the concentrated stuff and cutting it 50/50 with distilled water

Got it, thanks all.

a lot of the times the side block drains are almost non accessible on the 496 especially with twins. Most will see what I am talking about and then you will drain per how I posted. Not saying all but most will find how in the hell am I ever getting to those side drains without taking a bunch of stuff off or raising the engine up

Just buy 100 % dex cool and then mix that one gallon of dex cool with one gallon of pure distilled water --- this makes 2 gallons instead of 1 gallon of that per mix BS. It cost way less and that how we done it for many years..

Thanks BUP. It's my project for tomorrow.

I was assuming hes single engine since he has listed velocity 260. If its single engine you should be able to get to them, I know I can.

I want absolutely no part in working on a boat with a side by side engine setup for exactly that reason haha Not very interested in having to pull the starboard motor to change the port side starter... etc.

Just saying - I am posting general info for all boats with 496 (s)-- and if he had Gen III cool fuel and the starter sure can be in the way for the starboard side but in his case. He should have gen II cool fuel for a 2003 - 496. The port side might or could be harder for access.

And you will have to pull the water circ pump hose regardless to drain that area as well even after pulling the block drains

I just hook a shop vac up and suck as much out of the tank. Then the top of the circulation pump hose stick the shop vac in there. I get 99% of it out without spilling a drop in the boat

Sounds like a lot of work....Maybe you should just drop a 525 in there.
