Quality examples don't hit the open market sometimes. If you really want to know who wants or needs to sell post a thread asking what is available and have people message you. Lots of people don't like their business public and will only offer their toys by word of mouth or in private. Lots of quality sales have happened here in just this way.

Best advice so far.

If you think used boats are overpriced go look at new boat prices.

Makes good used boats look like a steal.

Can somebody explain why/how new boats got so expensive? Did something change in the boat manufacturing process or were the manufacturers just selling them for a loss in the 90's and 00's? The electronics and navigation they put on them today are nice, but I don't think it makes up the entire difference in pricing. And quite honestly, I bet if they SOLD versions without all the gizmos for a lesser price buyers would pick them up but it seems the boat manufacturers are only serving the top of the market. Today it's not about how many you can sell, it's about how much you can sell them for. Performance boats have become more like luxury corporate planes all the sudden.

Considering the price some of the new 400 outboard boats, you ain't kidding. I know what the cost for getting and rigging twin 400s as I just did it with our DCB to include new stereo, helm pumps, dual chart plotters and flir. It's amazing what some of these builders are then adding for fiberglass, interior.:poopoo:

One 1650 coupled to a M8 is about 130K so take it from there.

A lot of the clean boats are sold without being listed. I recently made a deal to sell my 2 owner, freshwater T/G to a couple of local guys who looked at a few blisters out of state, and then inquired through a mutual friend about my boat. It was not listed for sale, but I recouped all my money, and that never happens! To review: Cheap fuel, Strong economy, Less new production, Ridiculous inflated prices on new rigs, means more value for used boats. We all have noticed the lack of inventory lately. Supply and demand, as with any commodity.
