As I mentioned in my PM, you need to monitor lake levels in Kentucky. There are far more obstacles during winter than summer. We typically don't get out until mid-April around here - the water is cold and the drift wood aplenty at times.
The good thing is the restaurants and bars at Lake Cumberland and Kentucky/Barkley Lakes are starting to open now - so at least you can get food and drink.

I agree. Any lakes in Kentucky are still going to be too cold to do much. I would head further south.
