So I got you in the habit of cutting open oil filters now to, Just kidding with you.
I seen that vid long ago, Have not used any Fram filters since 1996 after I cut one open and found cardboard end caps and very thin filter media. .

Ha! Would I use a Fram filter for my boat? No. I have been using them in my cars for MANY years and have never had any oil related problem. My current daily driver has 215K miles on it and I drive it like I stole it.

I buy Fram PH-5's by the case. Never had an issue with any of them ever.
I don't think this issue will ever be settled. I have a printed out list on my garage wall of all the different filters that fits a Merc oil filter remote and how they rated. Frams were considered one of the better ones (top 3 I think).

Is there a difference between the Napa Gold and the Wix Racing filters?

I won't ever buy a Fram filter. Ever since they had that issue in the 90s where their motorcycle filters were coming apart, and actually caused several (bad) accidents, they are off of my approved vendor list.
Just like I won't ever buy Greenies dog treat products; same reasoning. 1 strike and your out.
