So who's in the pool for a handle?

The motor looks like its going to be making a hair over 600, while the current engine is out, Glassdave and I are going to pull the transom assbly and raise the X 2"

So right now with a 454 310 of unknown tiredness ( I have 3 seasons of laying the throttle on the dash on a used motor with unkbown hours) my absolute best has been 61.9 gps @ 4700 rpm

Person who guesses the closest to the new top speed at the end of the season wins either a handle of Morgan or a yuuugggeee supply of grape koolaid.

I'll say 83.

Wherever you end up, I'm sure it will be a real rush running it at the new speed compared to the old.

No disrespect but I've been down this road many times. Dreams of big numbers after spending big numbers just to be shocked in the end. My 19 Nova went from a tired 318 Chrysler to a stroked and roller BBC 496. Even added trim to the outdrive. Started at 46mph and ended at 64mph. That 60mph speed there is like a wall or something imho and going faster seems to be much harder.
So with that said, 70.5 mph

A 21 Hammond or Stryker would run close to 90 with that power. So I say 90.

That must have been a bummer, but your results are very different from most 18-22ft small boats. Schit, one I worked on adding 100hp to it's still 5.7L in a 20ft'r brought it from 54mph to 73. The last 5mph was putting on a 2" shorter outdrive.

88 MPH IF you add a 121g from O'reilly's Auto Parts.

81.1 if we're doing the 1/10ths thing.
Good luck it's gonna get hairy after the upper 70s I bet. Should be fun though.

Also I'm sure you're already well aware but I'll say it anywhoo. I'd pony up for some hydraulic steering. I had a smaller boat into the low 80s.

It was mid 70s before I added hydraulic steering and I can tell ya that even a little free play with cable steering is scary once you have to "drive" the boat

if it is the 22 avanti... my 25 agressor narrow beam was 82 with a 500 HP, my 25 outlaw whippled HP 500 ran like 81-83, so ... my guess is...
85 mph is my guesstimate!

Smaller boats can pick up some impressive gains with improvements. My second boat was a Baja, 208 Islander. It ran an honest 63 from the factory with a 454 and 3 blade prop. I swapped out the 454 for a 454 mag and put a 4 blade Turbo on it and picked up 11 mph.
