Default Checkmate 281 prop help please!

89' 281. 692hp blown 496, 420 blower, 12" box, bravo 1. Anybody have any advice on where to start? I'm thinkin bravo 26 to start? Or should I maybe go 28 or 30 to start?

28 to start if gear ratio is 1.5 would be my guess. Is the motor, box or boat new to you? I purchased a single engine, new box installed boat without a prop because the seller didn't have x-dimension dialed in yet with the box. Hard to know what you have until you throw a prop on and get a baseline. Try not to buy a prop before you know what you need (been there).

All depends on what your top RPM is supposed to be.
I would think with that HP I would try a stock bravo 30.
BBlades has an exchange program that I would try.

Great thanks for the replies! The boat is new to me. It has a 26 on it now, which seemed small to me. I am going to try and get it out next week and see speed and RPM. I will report back.

Turbo props worked well for me when I had my 270 Checkmate. As someone mentioned, check with Brett at BBlades and he'll get you on the right track.

A labbed 28 will turn about the same as a stock 26. I would try a stock 30 and see if you can turn it. If you can get close than have it labbed.

I'd start with a stock 30
