I don't consider most modern step bottom V's and Cats as "offshore" boats. Its more about speed these days over rough water performance. So Id most step bottoms are go fasts. Old school V hulls from the olden days are offshore.

Typically a boat that has big power, ocean capability but seldom used. Heavy maintenance schedule keeping all the upholstery and anodized bling clean.

Apparently I/O power only.

Once you toss on some of those egg beaters it might as well be a pontoon.

Heavy maintenance schedule printed in the owners manual or actually abided by? I see more "offshore" or "go fasts" that are poorly maintained, cosmetically as well as mechanically, rather than properly maintained.

I shut down my little Donzi on Lake Huron once and said to my passengers "this is true offshore boating when you can't see land in any direction!"

It would be interesting to see how the high points earners in Super Boat International would fare in "the Carib Great Race" between Trinidad and Tobago....both from an equipment and body attrition from actually running Offshore
