Don't pull the motors out unless you have a lot of hours and are going to pull the heads off to refreshen the engine. I will repeat, blown head gaskets on stock Mercury engine are caused by detonation and detonation only. So, if your motor is detonating, and you lock the heads down so the increased pressure of detonation cannot release, well, it will find somewhere else to release.

People always ask what I would do to increase reliability, well if your worried about head gaskets, then throw the stock heads away and install Dart Pro One heads, either the 119/325 or 121/335CNC and you can basically eliminate almost all worries of detonation. I will tell you that our system does a lot of test to ensure detonation is not there and if it does such as bad gas, bad sea pump, then the knock system reduces timing and adds fuel to decrease cylinder temps.

I think the Cigarette will have no problems handling the power. I would also highly recommend Heiring or Hydromotive 5 blade props. I'm pretty sure Spine Tickler ran the Heirings and picked up tremendous speed and handling.

Thanks,
Dustin
