You are 100% right on this. Our son who just turned 13 last Thursday doesn't want to do school sports and that's his decision, he wants to be on the water with us and his world revolves around boating and being at the lake. We went to Tickfaw for the first time this year and he went with us. I think he was the only kid there but he had a blast just as much as the rest of us did and we don't have a big money boat either. We even scored a ride on the helicopter during Pete Bodens morning photo shoot!

We do both. It cuts into boating time, but both are enjoyable. You'll miss poker runs, sure. But there are some poker/fun runs you can do. We took ours on their first run ever last year and they loved it. However, it's a huge thrill to watch your child pitch that last pitch on a full count with 2 outs and bases loaded...throwing a strike out to put their team in first place over the opponent for the entire season....that's priceless. Both of my kids have provided so many proud parental moments, it's hard to trade that for anything. However, poker runs are also super fun and the kids still love doing that, too.

The entire problem is these stupid day jobs that get in the way of it all.
