[QUOTE=Ryan00TJ;4554505]I agree. I run it hard and it likes it. Plan to add the Raylar HO525 kit over the winter. Interested to see how it likes an extra 100hp!

Yep, I picked one up a few months ago. A very nice piece. Raylar is still kicking. Talked to owner Larry couple days ago. Very nice knowledgeable fellow.

With Raylar's new aftermarket block forged 540 cube shortblock it's very tempting!!! I'm currently installing Raylar's rockers and 80mm Cool Gap intake. I had these parts on the shelf so I figured might as well install them.
Raylar's 540........

I'm looking at 288 sunsations and it seems like a lot of them have the 496 HO. I'm use to fresh water cooled 454 and 502's. Should I jump over to the 496 HO with the closed cooling? What are the Advantages and disadvantages? I thought I heard somewhere a while back that there was problems with the 496's... Would the 496 be a more costly engine to maintain or replace? Whats your thoughts guys?
I have a 05 Sunsation with the 496ho with 460 hours. Runs the same as the day I bought it. I hope to get another 13 years from it. I kept it stock and keep it under 4000 rpm.

I don't believe you can get that cool gap intake anymore from Raylar. Now they just hog out the stock intakes. Better flow but they are still a heat sink.
