Overall fun factor will be better for sure. Prop testing on the horizon.

That is a great project for sure. I was debating the 860s for longevity and warranty but the extra $60k was put into my F650 instead and the first pair I could get was late fall. I didn't want to wait or miss the whole winter here in Florida either.

Whipple stage kits are a lot cheaper than $60K and proven on the 700's. I believe you ran Tainted Lady when Ron put the 700's and stage kits on that re-power.

You have a lot of options with your new power and drive combo on the stretched 32... starting from stock with great reliability, great cruise speed vs fuel consumption and respectable top end

Those new 860s are incredible motors for sure, but I agree that they aren't worth the additional money. Those 700s are tried-and-true motors, with room to grow. I'm looking forward to following along with your thread, please post lots of pics and specs! And I agree with getting the new motors as far forward as you can to better balance the boat. We had my Sterlings pushed all the way forward as far as we could (just a few inches from the firewall), and my 30 worked very well. I'm interested to see what those Merc 700s weigh - my Sterling 588s/800hp weighed 800#s complete with motor mount, less headers and transmission. We weighed them at Skater, as they are in the attached pic. I'm guessing the Mercs will be about 100#s more with the supercharger. Your 32 should work better everywhere with the better CG of the lighter motors pushed forward. I'm certain you're consulting with Pete on your re-rig - he's the man! Good luck with your project.

Please excuse a dumb question, but in a sport where there is no such thing as too much power, what's the reason for the swap?
