Default Sunseeker...any one?

Anybody familiar with Sunseeker build quality?
Looked at a 1990 Martinique 36 last weekend. Big blocks and drives were in pieces but looks like a decent boat...not quite top shelf but a bit more polished than middle of the road. Any one famiar with build quality from this era on these boats? I know they are heavy and therefore not speed demons but what about handling and seaworthiness? Looking for something to run Buzzards Bay in.
Thanks.

Good question. I'd be interested to know as well. They are built in England.

I read somewhere (can't find it now) that some are built in Canada but designed in the UK for the US market. Not sure if that's true or not.

It's going on 30 years old, build quality should show by this point?

No stress cracks. Gel coat looks good. Can't access the bilge. Cockpit upholstery could stand to be redone. Cabin interior is dated but more sophisticated than any American boat of the period and still looks good. So judging by what tmmii just said, better than what is currently "new."

I'm on my fourth Sunseeker and the build quality has been excellent on all of them, the older ones were better put together than some of their newer stuff.

Excellent. V good to know as the boat I have in mind looks new in spite of it's 30 years. LOVE the colored gel coat, high quality lacquered wood, and the lack of oh so po-mo monochrome interior components. IMHO, the stock early models have aged much more gracefully than what most call "updates" on other boats.
