To be fair, you could buy a fully loaded Suburban 13 years ago for $40k. Now a fully loaded suburban is $81k.

I fully understand, and agree with your statement. However, I know that you can still buy a set of Sterling NA 800s for under $100K, and a set of ASD7s are under $50k. The Merc package is still considerably more money, but as I stated before, the new Merc technology trumps my old setup!

the 2 year warranty that covers everything is well worth the extra cash

You speak of your 13 year old Sterling as if you still have them. I wonder if the 860's will trump that number...

My 496HOs are 13 years old, and running strong. lol.

Seeing as how this engine was designed to be extremely power dense, I'd have to think these will live long lives at this "moderate" power level....as long as the headers don't leak.

No, I sold them to a guy in Australia. I'm converting my 30 to a pair of new Merc outboards.

He says that about every boat. Lucky for us buyers we know that a real offer will change his mind quickly. LOL

That reminds me, how is my dream 368 w 860s coming along?

There aren't build sheets on every boat, but I'm pretty certain I know which one it is - 6 person cockpit with a bustle and steps in the center on the tunnel extension?
