I think the layout is awesome. I'm curious has the market received them well? Have they produced many?

I was in FL with the family over Christmas and stopped by to visit with Pat (and his wife) for an hour. Great seeing/talking to them and I'm not just saying that cause he's going to read this post later today! LOL. They were in the early stages of building a 29 open bow, probably the white/red one that is for sale now. I just don't think I want the open bow. It likely has the same problem I have with CC's......chit ton of wind beating on you while driving. Seems I'll probably have to wait til that first light blue/green 29 is cheap enough for me to buy.

Are you against a 37 with outboards? I think an older 37 that could be bought right, then stripped of its IO's, sold off to offset the cost, and re-rigged with triple 400's would be the ticket.

I'm not that old.....but I've gotten too old/lazy for that kind of project (plus I work 55+ hours a week with virtually no vacations running a business). I've also had a 38 and simply don't need/want anything that big again (well, for now anyway LOL)

I think you would be in that boat right even if you paid someone to do all the work and just wrote the check. Here's a very loose breakdown:

Purchase boat: $30K
Sell motors/drives/headers: $20K
= $10K in stripped boat on the trailer

Paint boat/Fill transom: $25K
Cockpit/Cabin redo: $20K
Triple 400 verados with bracket: $80K

= $155K in a basically brand new boat with brand new 400 Verados

You should convince Dad to go in the boat refurb, refit, and flipping business. I think you would make a mint.

You have always represented yourself as part of the family business; not yours.

And yes, your figures are off enough to be significant.
1) You didn't figure anything for labor in derigging the boat.
2) Your dollars associated with redoing the transom and painting the boat are probably off by 30% if not more.
3) You are used to having a labor pool that you pay cost for, not retail like the rest of us.
4) You didn't figure anything for electronics, stereo, controls, navigation, or redoing the dash. (Could easily spend $15K+ on the dash alone.)
5) The bracket will probably cost $10K itself; especially when a billet swim platform is $3-5K already.
6) $20K to redo interior and cabin would be basic materials and very basic overall.
6) And then there is all the hardware, and other things needed, powdercoating, etc. etc.

Yes, I think you are off by at least $30K, and by the time you add up every nickle and dime, $40K, maybe even $50K low.

Yeah, you are probably correct, but even at $200k, the boat would be like brand new with warranty on the power. What do you think a new one would cost?
