There's a Sea Ray 420 Sundancer kept in the salt water marina near me. For about 7 years (that I know about) they have a diver clean the bottom 2-3 times per week and she gets travel lifted every 2 months and bottom polished. It is known as the cleanest boat in the marina. If looked after properly, the hull should be ok but this boat has shaft drives so no sterndrive in the water and not as many holes through the transom either.

That's a lot of work but an obsessive owner who hates antifoul and the boat is fine. Not many people would go to this extreme, don't write the boat off yet but you need to take a real good look at the boat before buying. It could be sensational but it could be a pog!

Funny, boats can't be kept in the water. Does it actually say that on a disclaimer when you buy a $250-$700 K boat? What a f**ked up industry that cannot build a boat that stays in the water.
Did anyone tell Bertram, Hatteras, Viking etc. all their big fishing rigs need to be pulled after each use ?

Sorry for the derail.

Formula boats were made out of wood till the 1998 fastechs. Fastechs have the grid system but still have a wood transom. This boat is all wood construction . Get a survey and double check the transom especially around the tabs and drives. Jeff wurl

thanks for all the replies. The other task at hand is trying to find a performance boat surveyor near Buffalo to survey the thing. Seems like either no one wants to touch a go fast boat or they all left to go to Florida to "survey" the damage.
