Surveyor should have scanned the total hours (like you did when the boat came home) was he independently chosen by you or was he recommended by the selling dealer? That may be a way to lay some blame back on the dealer. No idea about the original bolts untouched, sorry. RR I for one do not care for brokered boats, it always seems to me the owner is attempting to insulate themselves from the sale, usually for not so good reasons. Although I did buy my last boat from a broker... At this point the buyer has already contacted the broker, surveyor, and attorney/s. |
if im not mistaken wouldnt the computers show the original engine numbers in it? if so it should be able to see.

look at scan though. 225 hrs idle. 150 hrs between 1500 and 3000 25 hrs over 4000. 1 hr at full throttle. or something pretty close to that. if that is worst he is hiding, might be worth overlooking and twisting his arm for some money back. no small claims court, no bureaucracies, just give me back some of the dinero. also what engine? 415hp 502 is one thing. something blue may be whole nother issue...

Question......is it normal for Mercruiser blue motors to be sealed? My Mercruiser black motors were not. My VR 1 was sealed as the OP described but it was a Inovation built motor for Factory 1 racing.

The Mercruiser motors used for Factory 1 racing were also sealed back then.but I "didn't" think they all were.

Blue motors are, black are not. One question I saw but no answer, any paperwork on rebuilds? Who did them? The broker hasn't had the boat in there possession for the last 160 hours of use so I'm not seeing a ton of fault on their end taking the word of the client. Or maybe the last guy bought the boat with supposed 50 hours on rebuilds and didn't know how hard he got porked.

No paperwork on rebuilds, it would be fraudulent if there was as the motors are sealed.

My guess is the broker is going to use the "I didn't own the boat, I just went off what the owner told me" excuse and probably in his paperwork has a clause saying "vessels are represented as best as possible but it is solely the responsibility of the buyer to inspect the vessel and its condition"

Interesting read. The engine hours would not be reset on an engine rebuild. Going by the hour meters would normally be fine by me with paperwork. The fact that the engines are still sealed is a huge problem. Either these are brand new mercury engines installed 160 hours ago with a receipt for them or someone got taken. I would be looking at the broker for some $. Jeff wurl
