I'd be very impressed if the 36 would run 100 with 300's since the 32's which were significantly smaller ran that with 300's. The 400's seem to be that extra bump needed to get a lot of boats over the hump so it could be a very nice package.

Hey Todd, not really sure how you think that old 36 is going to run over 100 with 300XSs when 30 Skaters, 30 DWs, 30 Motions, 30 Spectres, 32 Spectres, etc. all run just over 100 with 300XSs. A boat that big will be a pig with a pair of 300s on the back. With 400s on the back, I agree that it should see 100, but not with a pair of 300 Optis back there. You do realize that REAL top speed numbers for all these new 400R cats are in the teens for the 30'-32' cats, and the 100s for the 34'-36' cats. I've talked to several guys that either own them, or have been out in them personally - they're not as fast as the internet is making them out to be. Yes, when super light with tall props on them, some of the boats have posted #s in the 120s, but that is definitely not the norm.

We had a company come in an scan the decks and hulls of the 30 and 36 molds. We all sat down, I showed them my laminate schedule and we came up with estimated weights, all within 5% or less. The outboard versions will be much lighter than the inboard ones. The 36 will be around 2500 lbs bare hull.

Every 30 Spectre I have rigged or had my hands on runs 110 mph with 300X or 300xs and those hulls weighed from 2100 to 2400. Comparing an older built Spectre to how we will be building them is like comparing apples to oranges. Jay built a very nice boat, but they were cookie cutter boats. The same can go for the Talons we build. The fastest original Talon 22 with a 400R on it runs 106. I personally drove John Hansen's to 114.9 mph and two of the others one we built to 112. So what is the difference? Better materials, infused, makes for a lighter boat. That is all we are banking on here is to build the boats with a better materials than before, a better resin ratio and the boats will be lighter, there for we will see an increase in performance. No rocket science here, just plain horsepower to weight ratio. I have no plans to build a 36 with twin 300's, a triple 300's yes, twins no. The boat is to big for just twin 300's. I know we will get one to run 110 mph with twin 400's. These other boat manufactures are full of a lot of hot air with what they run. I know and talk to a lot of the owner's who own them now and they are pretty upset with what they were promised. My deal on the first 36 with 400's has a clause that guarantees 110 mph or faster or 100% refund.

KAP's DW32 (long course) ran over 115 MPH with stock 300XS and stock ECU at LOTO...Merc personnel were there to confirm the ECU

CR Racing, another DW 32 with stock 300XS powerhead ran 119 MPH at LOTO as well (short course)

LOTO is an accurate speed trap to measure top-end speeds

Agreed that if you build a potato chip boat with nobody in it running on fumes, you will probably get to 110 with 400s - even with a large sponson inboard 36' hull. What I'm getting at, is that in real-world boating conditions - four adults, 100 gallons of fuel on board, these big cats w/ 400s are not fast - the passenger and fuel weight kills them. In my opinion, all these 34'-36' cats with twin 400s are going to be underpowered turds - so I'll just stay out of the whole conversation. Now, when Mercury releases the next generation of higher horsepower motors, the performance of the bigger cats will get much better!

I'm well aware of what all the boats have run Noli. I'm also very aware of a lot of other things in the industry that I don't mention online.......
