Has anyone had experience with this web based HIN search company? Their website is: https://boat-alert.com When I enter the 1979 HIN for the boat I want info on, it says it will produce a 7 page report. Just wondering if it's legit and worth the fee.

Never used it but like most of these kinds of things, their only going to provide what is available for free. If the boat is documented, you can search how has owned it from initial doc to present status. If its not doc, then go to the state its licensed in at the motor vehicle registration (county clerk) and they can look it up. The site listed says it will provide a 7 page report, they just didn't mention how much of it will have usable info.

Their statement "We provide all the data and indicators available to us ", so if its not available then they won't provide it

So where are they going to get information??? Does Larry's marine service report to some database?? Does Freddie's Fiberglass Repair report dock rash repair to boatfax? That Billy boater sold it to Ricky Racer in 1984 for 27k?

I'm not really interested in a service history on a boat that's almost 40 years old but I would be interested in finding out where the boat has spent it's life. The boat was built in NJ and has been registered in Canada for some time now. If the report spit out where it's been titled or registered since 1979, that would worth it for me.
