Just to step back a second.

So, other than you can afford to buy this boat, what are the other positives about it ?
|
They made alot of Baja's if you are set on them. Look for one in better condition. Better to have a small loan and enjoy the boat , then to buy a major headache that keeps on draining your wallet and you can't use because of repairs. and then worst of all still has the same overall value when finally finished. Also look at some other contenders in that category of boats, checkmate, formula, etc.

Add up what you think it will part out for $$ and offer that, sounds like it needs to go to the shredder.......

Yeah I'm going to have to pass. I could handle all the work it needs, the hull blisters is the kicker....hard to find a 272 for under 20k north of the boarder...then you still are taking a chance on the motor.

Any restoration project will cost at least 2x the time and 3x the money on a relatively decent boat.
If the boat is as rough as you describe, your repairs can easily run twice as high as the initial estimate. If you go through with the restoration right, you can easily end up with an old boat that that’s worth 25 k at best that you have 70-80 k in. Run away from that boat ASAP. |

With the exchange rate the way it is, it's not worth it for us Canadians to shop south of the boarder unless it's a killer deal...

That boats overpriced by about 50k
