I didn't think there was much going on around Lake Cumberland?? Looks like there's nothing around the lake. No homes, no restaurants, etc.??

I love Cumberland too - but there is nothing wrong with Kentucky Lake. Water is not as clear, but it's relatively clean when pulling your boat out after a weekend.

Cumberland is a beautiful lake, but so is Lake Barkley and KY Lake! KY and Barkley both has a few new bars/restaurants with several different party spots and of course miles of cove's for you to just relax in!
Might look at GLOC and Beaver Lake as well!! Payuppsucker - most of us boat on the north end of KY and Barkley! Paris has some good places to have a cool beverage!! |
I have no experience wth the west side of Lk MI (hoping to remedy that soon) but the entire east side of the Lake / western shore of Mi is amazing. Several ports up and down the coast with lots to do and see.
However, the water and weather here can be finicky so some schedule flexibility is recommended. If you get further north and get into the Charlevoix / Boyne area or the bays by Traverse City you can find good water if the big lake doesn't cooperate. A bit further north and around to the east you get into the straights of Mackinac; under the bridge is a spectacular view and there's always Mackinac Island but again, the weather needs to cooperate and you need to be aware of nav markers and have good charts. Torch is beautiful and all the "experts" rank it on the list of the world's most beautiful lakes. I guess everyone should see it once, but I wouldn't take a Cig TG there and whenever someone asks me about I tend to tell them it's a bit like someone describing a classic novel; it may be a work of art but there are others I like better. |

Paris is cool as well but there's a game warden there that hates dry pipes. His name is Clay Riley. We're actually friends now but that was about six tickets ago and I don't take the Formula there anymore. We'll be up that way with the Hustler this year however. If you guys ever get to Pickwick be sure and give us a shout. |

Is there size speed and noise limitations on Lake Keowee. I never thought to take my boat there thinking it wouldn't be aloud. We have a family house there with a dock but has a pontoon boat in it. Boat haven't been used in years
