Lost my 17 year old son to oxicotin overdose Christmas morning 8 years ago. All 5 of his friends that he ran around with are dead now also.
All five at his funeral said they were never going to do drugs again. At the 1st friends funeral we heard it again, and at the 2nd friends funeral and so on and so on.
Good smart talented kids growing up near the beach in Sleepy little Naples Florida.
Painful to see the parents of the sons at the funeral and know the Hell they are going to go through the next 2 years from their Loss after finally getting through it yourselves.
Oxicotin is the number one killer of kids in SW Florida.
Something to think about if any of you have young kids and are toying with the idea of moving down south here.
And I know your kids would never do Drugs.

The drug issues are everywhere, HBO had a great documentary on it happening in Cape Cod. Every kid in the documentary was dead by the end of the show. All promised to get clean, some rehab then relapse and done.

Wife works at a pain mgmt clinic. Says about 50% of the patients have an actual situation that needs pain meds. The other 50% have either been abusing the system or are trying. They keep a pretty close watch on what pain Meds people are on and how many pills they use. Can tell the junkys because they blow through 30 days of meds in a week. They they lose there chit when the clinic wont prescribe more for them. After so many strikes they are banished from the clinic.
i had my tonsils out at 25. Worst pain ive ever experienced. I quit taking the pain meds after 2 days cause they made me screwed up and just dealt with the pain best i could. It sucked but i survuved.

As the govt etc address this and tighter controls get place, I just hope they have enough fore sight to exclude my world from their regulations. It is becoming increasingly difficult to do my job on a dynamic level. TRue every once in a while we have to deal with family members etc getting into stuff, but we have methods and safegaurds for it when we see a problem, People don't realize that there is a world where we need to give and have immediate access to give incredible amounts of narcotics, anxiety meds etc. The patient demographic I serve has zero concern over addiction and total concern over comfort and symptom managment. We play for a different team and need different rules.

I couldn't imagine being 72, blown through millions and headed back to jail on a car theft racket for 12 years!
Cocaine Cowboy Mickey Munday sent to prison for auto theft | Miami Herald
There’s a moral to Mickey Munday’s story: If you’re a former cocaine cowboy, don’t brag about it while signing on in another criminal scheme..
Munday, a notorious pilot who flew cocaine loads for the Colombian cartels back in the 1980s, spent the following decade in prison before regaining his freedom. In recent years, he did a star turn in the “Cocaine Cowboys” documentary, sold the rights of his life to Paramount Pictures, and gave all kinds of media interviews on radio and TV. But on the side he was also playing a supporting role in an auto theft ring.
On Monday, a federal judge slammed Munday, 72, with a 12-year prison sentence for his recent trial conviction on the auto fraud-conspiracy charges.
