Default Bravo 1 Update

I broke the 1988 bravo 1 in my Mirage and need to know what changes I'll need to make to install a 1995 Bravo 1 on the existing bell house/gimbal. The 1988 did not have an oil reservoir.
Thanks

Ones with the external fitting should mount since the female part of the connection is on the drive side. Think the issue will be is IF the seal stays sealed during normal use; otherwise might need a new transom assembly.

Other opinions may very

What seal are you referring to?

The later Bravos installed a lube bottle and there is a male/female quick connect between bell housing and the drive. The drive has the female side and if the check ball stays sealed then there will be no leaking

Could clean it up good and use some 3M 4200 to seal it up, but make sure if you use 4200 its dry before its installed on the bell housin

just put a little silicone on outer part of the resivoir seal so it seals just like the o ring on bell housing would seal it. Not to much you don’t want the silicone to push ball in. There is a spring behind ball to keep it sealed

Or I could drill the transom assembly and install the necessary parts to use the oil reservoir. I assume the parts are all available? Have any part numbers? Can I get the male side of the oil passage connection?
Thanks for your input.

Personally, I'd make the necessary mods to utilize the reservoir. There's a reason Merc added one to the later drives. I had an Alpha without the reservoir and I hated the fact I had no good way of knowing if the drive had the proper fluid level after a lube change. I would think you could find the necessary parts fairly cheap in the used market.

Look here for the parts you would need --> Genuine Mercury & Mercruiser parts. BRAVO ONE

You can get the parts, the issue I see is drilling hole in gimbal housing and figuring out which bell housing. My guess is you currently have 41646A7 and probably need A11. Need to find out which ones will work, and they may all work, don't know. I would suggest finding a complete new/used transom assembly. This way there is no issue and all you need to do is pull motor and replace the whole unit. Probably need to remove the motor anyway to drill and fasten feed thru.

I have one and if your close to KY we could work out a cheap deal, but I really don't want to ship it right now. Others here have some for good prices

Bell housing 41646A7, 41646A9, 41646A11 or 866457A01 (part number list from old to new)
Valve Assembly 18920A1
Lube bottle and parts Genuine Mercury & Mercruiser parts. OIL RESERVOIR COMPONENTS(SQUARE OIL BOTTLE)
