There are very few "steals" at Barrett-Jackson. In fact, they frequently set high price records on many of the collector cars they market. The boat while impressive, is very polarizing. As others have stated, an all black enclosed cockpit 52' boat with an oversized wide beam can be less appealing than you may think. I saw that boat on the trailer behind a gorgeous sleeper cab tractor at Phil's a couple of years ago waiting in the street for an opportunity to back it down that narrow twisty entrance. It was incredibly flashy, but at 75' or so long and at least 12' wide, it is a logistics nightmare! Many high end toys sell for less than 50% of the original purchase price after a few years in service. The folks that commission these types of projects have the means to purchase new, and want personal input on all phases of the outcome. Add in the cosmetic refresh, and maintenance and the price paid could easily jump to $600k+. IMHO market value was established at B-J, and it was accurate.

Here are the 52' "Black Diamond" and "Pressure" together a couple of years ago at the Miami Boat Show Poker run. These two are sisters, the other black canopy boat was a 48' ZR1 Corvette theme boat that was replaced by Black Diamond.
