Xel Ha' (shell-ha) was a cool day trip and great place to take a family. We liked spending the day there although i could'a spent half the day sleeping in one of those big azz hammocks in the palm trees lol. Playa Del Carmen is worth a visit to, as is the Mayan ruins at Talum . . . . watch out for big azz lizards or whatever those godzilla lookin things are . . . .

We love it down there and have been to Playa del Carmen several times now. We stay at the Riu Palace in Playacar and for the money it’s really hard to beat. We like it in Playacar because it’s a large community with several resorts, condos and single family homes so you aren’t just stuck to your single resort. Plus, it’s a 10 minute bike ride into Playa del Carmen.

Ditto...we stayed at Riu Palace last year and loved it. Short walk to Playa del Carmen which is a great/safe city to walk around.....lots of shopping, restaurants, bars.... We've stayed at several places in Riviera Maya, but really liked the Playacar area. Take the ferry over to Cozumel for a day trip as well. We'll go here again next time.

Looks like you and Kim are having a great time! Just don't find a poker table down there or you may have to come home early!
